Support Worker
About the Role
The Lewisham Community Support Team is seeking a compassionate and experienced Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to an individual with specific challenges, including being non-verbal, having learning disabilities, and lacking traffic awareness. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring their safety, fostering independence, and enabling them to engage in a variety of activities, including attending college, swimming, disco outings, travel training, and bike riding.
This is a lone-working role and requires a highly responsible and proactive individual to provide effective support. Flexibility is crucial, as there is no fixed schedule; we adapt to the needs and preferences of the person we support.
Hours
39 hours per week.
Working hours typically range between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm, but these may vary based on activities and support requirements.
Location
This role involves working in various locations across Lewisham, Southwark, Newham, and Greenwich. There is no permanent workplace, as your duties will require travel to meet the needs of the individual and therefore a driving licence is essential.
About You

- Compassionate and empathetic approach.
- Proactive and able to work independently in a lone-working setting.
- Flexible working attitude, adaptable to changing schedules and needs.
- Previous experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours.
- Confident in monitoring and ensuring safety in public settings.
- MUST be a driver with a UK driving license.
