A chocolate can make all the difference
"Kind gifts are not just about money, or expense, or even acknowledgement," says Sarah Maguire, our CEO, in her vlog this week, "It’s those random acts of kindness, the ones you weren’t expecting that often touches the most deeply."
I got an e-Christmas card this week which posed the question - What gift would you wish for the world? I sat and pondered, but not for too long, as for me, the gift would be kindness – both to ourselves and to each other. In this year of highs and lows, twists and turns, taking the time to be kind can, and has made a whole heap of difference to me, and I hope those around me.
Kind gifts are not just about money, or expense, or even acknowledgement. It’s those random acts of kindness, the ones you weren’t expecting that often touches the most deeply. I’d just sat down after recording the original version of this vlog when I read a tweet from Rachel Peacock, at the wonderful organisation Making Space, and this is what it said,
“I will always believe people are mostly kind. Tonight, my daughter came home from her Christmas job at TKMaxx, after working a late shift, to tell me a customer bought a box of chocolates amongst other items, opened it, and gave her three chocolates before going about their evening in Liverpool.”
This was so simple, so easy, so kind. I just had to record and share it with you.
I read that if we can carry out one gift of kindness a day, slowly but surely, we will leave an indelible legacy of kindness into this world.
Have a good weekend. Bye.
