What we do
Experts by Experience
An Expert by Experience is someone who has lived experience of using health and/or social care in the past eight years.
In this important role the Expert by Experience visits people and listens to their opinions of what it’s like for them to use health and/or social care services.
Working alongside inspectors for the Care Quality Commission (CQC), Expert by Experience deliver the voice and experience of people receiving these services to the CQC.
As Sean Barnes told us, in his account of being invited to speak about Expert by Experience, at a multinational conference in Denmark, the programme works so well because: “We have common ground and people have said it made them feel more comfortable to talk to me and open about their current experiences.”
If you have personal experience or are a family carer of a loved one, who uses health and social care services in England, you can make a difference by becoming an Expert by Experience.
