Animals heal minds
There are many mental health benefits to interacting with animals. Such as…
Did you know that spending time with animals and pets, even if it’s just for a short while, can have long term benefits for your mental health. Sitting with an animal can be calming, especially when you’re feeling stressed or anxious. Having a pet also means you are never alone, and you will always be loved, no matter how bad things may feel.
Many of our employees work from home, which means they can have their pets by their side while they work. These employees have told us how these pets help with their job, like keeping them calm when things get hard, and never letting them sit alone.
Even our staff who don’t work from home have expressed how their pets help them decompress after a long day, and how having dogs or horses allows them to get plenty of exercise. Taking care of your physical health can be instrumental to looking after your mental health. And, if we are making sure our pets eat right, it is easier to make sure we do too.
These animal benefits are not exclusive to our staff either. Recently, one of our services in Nottingham enjoyed a pet therapy day. They had a whole range of animals to interact with and learn about, from earthworms and snakes to hedgehogs and rabbits.
