Meet the Care Quality Commission Young Champions!
Care Quality Commission (CQC) Young Champions are a diverse group of young people who are having a real say in the services regulated by the CQC, from GP practices to mental health trusts and community health providers, right across England.
In October, Youth Voice experts Participation People joined forces with Care Quality Commission (CQC) and Choice Support to launch a new Young Champions programme.
Young people have now been recruited as Young Champions to support children and young people to give feedback on the care they have received. The Young Champions also offer a fresh perspective on how CQC listens to, values and acts on children and young people’s views, opinions and lived experiences of services.
The group meet both online and in-person, and cover a wide range of topics, giving valuable insight on each, including: The State of Care Report, Human Rights, Inspection Processes and many more.
In return, Young Champions have been able to build different skills, such as teamwork, leadership and communication. Young Champion Phillip says “I joined the group to ultimately improve the health and social care system for young people and my community. I have been able to really gain a lot of confidence to do so.”
