Network and Share Experiences at Our New Focus Groups
This month saw the start of a new series of focus groups for PEN members and people with lived experience of using health and care services
PEN focus groups enable members who work with and support people who have similar experiences and protected characteristics to delve into specific areas of health and adult social care.
Hosted by our Community Engagement Officers, our focus groups offer the opportunity for members to network and share their research and projects with each other.
The people you support and work with are also welcome to join so they can share their insights into health and social care services in a safe and inclusive space.

Our new series of focus groups began this month with the LGBTQ+ group discussing the impact of the Cass Report on the communities they support.
Another focus group for people using cancer services will hold its first session on Wednesday 3rd July where ‘accessing and navigating care’ will be discussed.
The next focus groups in this series will be on:
- Black men’s mental health: Tuesday 17th September, 1:30 - 3pm
- People living with dementia: Thursday 19th September, 11am – 12:30pm
- People whose first language is not English: Wednesday 2nd October, 1:30 - 3pm
- LGBTQ+ communities: Wednesday 18th September, 1:30 - 3pm
- People using cancer services: Tuesday 24th September, 11am – 12:30pm
Your feedback
At the focus groups, we will gather insight and feedback from you to pass on to Care Quality Commission (CQC), unless you request us to not to share information.
Feedback we give to CQC can help towards reviewing the ways they regulate services with the aim to make improvements to health and social care across England.
