The who, informs the how
"We don’t have to be famous to influence, so let’s be thoughtful about how we are with each other...", says Sarah Maguire in her vlog this week.
Like many of us I spent much of my youth dreaming about being more like somebody else. For me it was Barbara Streisand and I’ve always loved musicals and I still watch the film ‘The Way We Were’ with as much enthusiasm as my younger self. As the years have rolled by, I have become more content with me, coupled with a realisation that I cannot actually hold a tune.
The dreams may have faded but I realise that it’s not about who I want to be but who I am that’s important. Who I am, my beliefs, my values, shape how I am, and how I behave with others. We’re all role models whether we intend to be or not. Whether at home, with friends or at work, how we are can influence others.
As the pace of life has changed over the last six months, I’ve had more time to reflect on who I am and how I want to be in life. If I had to choose one word for how I would like to be, it would be kind.
We don’t have to be famous to influence, so let’s be thoughtful about how we are with each other to create more moments of happiness and joy.
See you next week, bye.
