New homes to transform care
I've been busy since we were awarded a NHS Transforming Care grant of £1.8 million to build homes in Kirklees for people who have complex support needs and may challenge their environment.
Mayman Lane is a development of six self-contained supported living flats. It contains a separate staff office, accommodation and training facilities and is being developed in partnership with Kirklees Council and NHS England. The development came about off the back of the successful and award-winning project known as Holly Lodge, in Kent, which provides a safe and homely environment for those people who may challenge their environment.
The project started in April 2019 and is due for completion in May 2020. We already have people who want to move in. This is an exciting and innovative project that we hope will be the benchmark for future projects across the country.
The project is progressing well with all units and the staff block up to roof level, discussions are now in place to finalise the technology to support both the residents and staff. The next stage of the build is a first fix electrical and mechanical works.
