Reassuring to see progress

During my last site visit we were joined by the local commissioners and families whose relatives will be moving into Mayman Lane later in the year. It was reassuring to see their smiling faces.
After another long drive up the M1 from our head office in Maidstone, Kent, I arrived on site to see our new build at Mayman Lane, Batley a town in Kirklees, West Yorkshire. We are building Mayman Lane as a state-of-the-art development containing six self-contained bungalows, a staff office, sleepover room and training facilities. It's not only going to be a new home for six people, but it's going to be their own safe home. Many of the new residents have lived a long time in hospital so it may also be the first time they have a place of their own. It includes innovations such as curved (and removable) internal walls, soft impact finishes to floors and walls, underfloor heating and assistive technologies.
When I arrived on site I was pleasantly surprised to see how much progress we had made with the construction work. We've reached our first fix stage of construction which means all the work needed has been done to take Mayman Lane from it's foundations through to the erection of the internal walls has been completed. The next stage of the construction will include wiring, plumbing and the infrastructure for the technology.
