Service Manager
About the Role
We are seeking to recruit a dedicated and experienced Service Manager to lead our supported living service at Hucknall Road in Nottingham. The service provides support to 11 adults with mental health needs, enabling them to live as independently as possible in their own homes and communities.
As Service Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the day to day running of the service, working closely with the Area Services Manager to ensure high‑quality, recovery‑focused, person‑centred and trauma‑informed support. You will ensure the service meets local authority contract requirements, relevant legislation, and Choice Support policies and values.
You will lead, develop, and support a skilled staff team, while working collaboratively with commissioners, housing providers, health professionals, families, and advocates to deliver joined‑up, consistent support that promotes recovery, independence, and wellbeing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and managing the service to ensure it is safe, well‑organised, and outcome‑focused
- Promoting recovery‑focused, person‑centred, and trauma‑informed practice
- Ensuring support plans and risk assessments are up to date and reflect people’s goals, strengths, and choices
- Recruiting, developing, and supporting staff through supervision, appraisals, training, and rota planning
- Managing safeguarding and risk in line with policies and procedures
- Maintaining high‑quality records for contract monitoring, audits, and quality reviews
- Managing budgets and resources responsibly
- Building strong relationships with commissioners, mental health teams, social workers, landlords, and partner organisations
- Supporting people to access healthcare, community services, education, employment, and social opportunities
- Participating in the management on‑call rota and responding to incidents when required
Hours
This is a full‑time (39 hpw) management role and includes participation in a management on‑call rota, responding to incidents outside of standard working hours when required.
Location
The role is based at our supported living service on Hucknall Road, Nottingham.
The post may involve travel between supported living properties, a full manual driving licence is essential.
About You
Our services are fast‑paced and dynamic, so we are looking for someone who is flexible, resilient, and committed to supporting people on their recovery journey. This is a challenging and rewarding role, offering the opportunity to make a real difference.
You will have:
- At least two years’ experience managing mental health supported living or community‑based services
- A Level 4 Diploma in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards)
- A Level 4 or 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (or willingness to work towards)
- Good knowledge of safeguarding, the Care Act, the Mental Capacity Act, and local authority contract requirements
- Experience leading teams and managing rotas, budgets, and service quality
- Strong communication, organisation, and problem‑solving skills
- Confidence using digital systems including care management systems, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
- A kind, compassionate, honest, and positive leadership style
